New EPION resources about early psychosis intervention
The EPION PEAK Working Group is happy to announce the release of 3 new resources for families and young people about early psychosis.
Intended to complement existing EPION resources about signs and symptoms of psychosis, the new series of info sheets will help youth and families navigate the early stages of early psychosis intervention.

The EPION Executive team encourages you to explore an exciting new resource: the Cannabis Knowledge Exchange Hub. The Provincial System Support Program at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health developed the Hub, which is designed to connect policy-makers and professionals working in primary care, mental health and addictions, public health, education and social services with valuable information on non-medical cannabis.

EPION’s Standards Implementation Steering Committee is happy to announce that its latest report is now available. “Quality of care in Ontario Early Psychosis Intervention programs: An update after the second round of EPI fidelity assessments” describes the next phase of the Fidelity Pilot project conducted by the Standards Implementation Steering Committee (SISC).

Caring for and supporting someone with a mental health issue can challenge a person’s typical ways of coping, parenting and relating to others. Not only is it important for families to learn about what their loved one’s are experiencing, but it can be very helpful for them to learn about different ways to support and communciate, as well as how to care for oneself on the journey of recovery. The following are resources to help the caregiver with strategies for supporting and caring for oneself.

Transitions in care, including clients leaving the program, transferring or re-entering, are consistently identified as challenges for Early Psychosis Intervention programs. In response to this concern, EPION led a consultation process among interested members and other stakeholders over the 2018-2019 fiscal year.

EPION’s Metabolic Working Group is pleased to announce the release of a new interactive web tool to promote metabolic monitoring for people with mental illness. It provides an easy and structured way to screen and begin metabolic interventions, and set healthy lifestyle goals.
